Moffatt Up For Australian Sports Performer Awards

Australia’s 2009 Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship winner, Emma Moffatt, is in the running for the prestigious Sports Performer of the Year Award which is voted for the by the general public.

Having made the short list of twelve alongside the likes of Formula One driver Mark Webber and cycling world champion Cadel Evans, Moffatt’s remarkable season which included three Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series wins in Washington DC, Kitzbuhel and Hamburg, as well as victory at the Grand Final on home soil in Gold Coast, has been duly noted by the selection panel.

Moffatt started 2009 following an excellent bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing, and made the decision to move to the Gold Coast to be coached by Craig Walton and train alongside Olympic champion Emma Snowsill. Just seven months later, she was outsprinting Sweden’s Lisa Norden to wrap up the world title in front of an elated Australian crowd. Moffatt’s first triathlon world championship was made all the more remarkable as she bounced back from a foot injury sustained in July to win the series.
