Florin Salvisberg (SUI) stormed to the biggest win of his career to become European U23 Champion in Holten.
The U23 Men’s race was the first event of a busy day of triathlon in Holten, and the Swiss athlete produced a magnificent performance to secure victory. This was the first International victory of Salvisberg’s career and only his third ever podium.
It was a dominant performance from Salvisberg who was one of the first athletes out of the water and maintained his position within the leading back throughout the bike. A super transition allowed Salvisberg to emerge from T2 in third place but once out on the run he powered through the gears to win comfortably.
Behind Salvisberg, a thrilling battle developed between Jelle Geens (BEL) and Vicente Hernandez (ESP).
The two were neck and neck for the majority of the run and it wasn’t until the final strides that Geens edged in front to take the silver medal and Hernandez had to settle for bronze.
