The Sharm El-Sheikh ALAMEDA 2016 ATU Triathlon African Cup & Pan Arab Championships , 1-2 April 2016, represents the pinnacle of triathlon competition in Egypt, providing recreational triathletes with a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete on the same course as Africa’s and Arabs’ best.
The beautiful setting of Naama Bay is hoping to attract hundreds of spectators to watch both the amateurs and the professionals – including Africa’s best who will be competing in their last event on home soil before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
On Friday 1st April 2016, over 500 triathletes of all levels of ability will compete on the spectator-friendly course with the transition area in the heart of Naama Bay. Starting with an open water swim in the glorious Red Sea, the bike leg will see participants complete laps in and around the centre of Naama Bay before completing a flat run course on the beach front and crossing the finish line in the city centre. In addition to the main action of triathlon on the 1st and 2nd of April, Naama Bay will also be host to a day of duathlon and aquathlon the following Friday 8th April 2016. More information on this will be made available in the coming weeks.
