World Triathlon Development has developed various types of development camps based on the needs of the athletes and coaches, previous experiences, current academic knowledge and studies.

World Triathlon Athlete Development Camp
The World Triathlon Athlete Development Model has been specifically designed to provide National Federations (NFs) with current information about athlete selection and development as a framework.
The identification of athletes with the potential to compete at the highest level and to the best of their ability in triathlon allows NFs to use the available resources properly. It also helps in the process of designing the optimal strategy to achieve the best results. The identification process assumes that elite athletes can be selected based on some existing characteristics.
However, the multi-dimensionality of sports performance and the variability of competencies needed to be a top athlete create an environment where the number of variables able to fit an explanatory model of future performance is enormous, and in some cases hard to identify at the point when selections may be being made, leading to the possibility of future high-performing athletes being excluded from the process too early.
The World Triathlon Development Camp provides the necessary information to identify the success factors in the sport of triathlon, and also highlights the essential characteristics needed by athletes aspiring to compete at the highest level of the sport.
It is important to note that it is not the aim of the programme to dismiss any athlete but to help to establish realistic and achievable goals according to each athlete’s capabilities and characteristics.

World Triathlon Skill Development Camp
The multi-dimensionality of sports performance and the variability of competencies needed to be a top athlete creates an environment where the number of variables able to fit an explanatory model of future performance is enormous.
Movement economy is a key parameter of aerobic fitness, and it is determined by various combined physiological and biomechanical characteristics of an athlete.
The World Triathlon Skill Development Camp has been specifically designed to provide participants with current information about motor skill development, biomechanics, and the specific triathlon-related skills needed to compete at the highest level.
The camp’s objective is to provide coaches and participants with the information and understanding necessary to design individualised training programs. With a first-class technical approach, participants will be given the tools they need to enhance and perfect more effective movement patterns. It is also expected that athletes and coaches will be better able to construct specialised race plans due to greater race skill knowledge and intelligence quotient as a result of this increased knowledge and comprehension of the sport’s requirements.

World Triathlon Pre-Event Development Camp
The result of the race will be determined by each competitor’s ability to start the race in a mentally and emotionally prepared state, with adequate fuel, in the best physical condition and underpinned by the athlete’s understanding of how to race the particular course well.
The World Triathlon Pre-Event Development Camp was created with the specific purpose of giving participants up-to-date knowledge on pre-race preparation, race course analysis, pre-competition nutrition, mental preparation, the goal-setting process and specifically preparing an athlete to race a course well.
The primary objective of the camp is to give coaches and athletes the knowledge, resources, and skills they need to correctly build their race strategy and plan, create their nutrition strategy, work on their mental preparation, and create the most effective pre-race routine.

World Triathlon Post-Event Development Camp
A post-race analysis is crucial to assess Athletes’ performance, identify what worked and what didn’t, where their strengths lie, and what limiters need to be adjusted.
The World Triathlon Post-Event Development Camp was created with the specific purpose of giving participants up-to-date knowledge on post-race analysis, performance analysis, post-competition nutrition, recovery, goal-setting review and reflective thinking.
The main goal of the camp is to provide coaches and athletes with the information, tools, and expertise they need to properly analyse their race performance and then use this knowledge to develop a better understanding of how to race with an improved level of understanding of all the factors required to consistently race better. This is done by looking at various metrics after a race and performing quantitative and qualitative analyses of the data obtained from that race.
