With a commitment to sustainability and an ambitious racing schedule, World Triathlon has announced the 2025 season calendar, which is set to engage athletes and fans alike around the globe.
The World Triathlon Championship Series season will commence slightly earlier than usual, with the WTCS Abu Dhabi opening event taking place on 14-15 February. The WTCS, the pinnacle of short-course racing, will continue to showcase the world’s elite athletes competing in the sport’s most iconic locations. Following Abu Dhabi, the Series will continue with another classic stop on the calendar, WTCS Yokohama, on 17 May, a race that will be followed by a new addition to the Series, in Sardinia, Italy, at the end of May, with the new location to be announced shortly.
Another classic event in the calendar, Hamburg, will host once again a leg of the WTCS season as well as the Mixed Relay World Championships in July, while Karlovy Vary, in the Czech Republic, is stepping up from a World Cup favourite to a future WTCS classic. It is a Series-hosting debut that will delight athletes and spectators alike, with a challenging course in a beautiful setting in September.
The Championship Finals return to Australia in 2025 for the first time since the magnificent display of Gold Coast in 2018, with Wollongong ready to crown the next World Champions in October.
World Triathlon Cups
The World Triathlon Cup circuit will continue to provide a perfect racing scenario for emerging talents and seasoned athletes to compete in a variety of locations in Europe, South America, Asia and Oceania.
Para Triathlon Events
Inclusivity is a cornerstone of the World Triathlon ethos, and the 2025 calendar will deliver another robust and extensive calendar of Para Triathlon Series and Cups, fostering opportunities for Para triathletes of all classes to showcase their talents on the world stage.
Multisport World Championships

Alsdorf, in Germany, will host the Middle Distance Long Distance Duathlon Championships, while Zofingen weill organise once again the 2025 Long Distance Duathlon Championships.
A Sustainable Vision
World Triathlon is committed to making the events and the season calendar as sustainable as possible. This commitment not only reflects the organisation’s values but also enhances the overall experience for athletes and fans alike, ensuring that the events leave a positive impact on our host communities.
Reflecting on the upcoming season, World Triathlon President and IOC Member Marisol Casado said: “I want to express our gratitude to every single city and LOC that has stepped forward to host a World Triathlon event in 2025, from the smaller ones to the Championship Finals. We know the effort that hosting an event takes for these great cities, the LOCs and National Federations, but we will continue to work to put together season calendars that are sustainable, while offering magnificent scenarios for athletes to showcase their talents on a global stage.”
The 2025 World Triathlon season promises to be a remarkable journey, showcasing the pinnacle of triathlon through the WTCS, culminating in the World Championship Finals in Australia. Following a thrilling Olympic year, the stage is set for athletes to shine in a packed and sustainable calendar of events.
