World titles on the line in the Aquathlon World Championships Samorin

Samorin, Slovakia, is the stage to host the 2022 World Triathlon Multisport Championships for the Long Distance, Aquathlon and Aquabike events and will take place at the iconic x-bionic® sphere sports complex, just 25km from the historic capital Bratislava. The event will be hosted by Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and will run alongside both the Collins Cup and PTO age group races from 18th-21st August 2022. The Challenge Family team, who have delivered their flagship race The Championship at the same venue for the past 5 years, as well as the 2021 World Triathlon Multisports Championships in Almere are the Event Delivery partner.

The 2022 World Triathlon Long Distance World Championships will cover the 100km distance (2km swim, 80km bike and 18km run) on Sunday, with elite and age-group Athletes vying for world titles. The Aquabike races will also take place on Sunday, over a 2km swim and 80km bike course, open for age-groupers only. The courses for 2022 will be shorter than the standard Long Distances World Triathlon Championship events to align with the existing planning of the Collins Cup.

After a hugely successful event in 2021 in Extremadura, Spain, the 2022 World Triathlon Aquathlon Championships returns to open the Multisport World Championships schedule, in Samorin. The Aquathlon World Championships will take place on Thursday, over a 1km swim and 5km run and with titles up for grabs in the elite, U23, junior and age-group categories.

Yegor Martynenko of Ukraine will be wearing number one in the fiercely contested men’s field. Frenchman Arnaud De Lustrac will be next in the line-up and will be challenged by the highly experienced Mark Devay (HUN) who is a renowned swim segment of a race along with Serbia’s Ognjen Stojanovic.

In the women’s field the experienced Antoanela Manac of Romania is set to headline the Aquathlon World Championships. Ukraine’s Sofiya Pryyma and compatriot Maryna Kyryk will be ones to watch across the 1km swim and 5km race in Samorin.

Germany’s Céline Kaiser and Australia’s Grace Thek will be looking to make an impact on the race early on in the swim, against the world class field, in order to race for the podium in Bratislava.

In the afternoon the Official Parade of Nations and Welcome Ceremony will take place, to welcome world triathletes to Samorin, for the World Triathlon Multisport Championships.
