Ever wanted to ask Javier Gomez what was going through his mind with 2km to go chasing down the defending World Champion and the tank almost empty? Desperate to know what Vicky Holland’s pre-race tactics were heading in to a career-defining Grand Final on the Gold Coast? Well this weekend is your chance.
Following on the heels of the WTS Bermuda re-run featuring live interaction from women’s champion Flora Duffy and the Norwegian men’s podium trio of Casper Stornes, Gustav Iden and Kristian Blummenfelt, this weekend the #reLIVE action returns to the number one multisports platform, TriathlonLIVE.tv.
The theme for the week on ITU social media platforms has been sprint-finishes, looking back over some of the finest finales in the history of the sport. From Javier Gomez and Alistair Brownlee‘s memorable 2015 Yokohama battle and Simon Whitfield out-gunning Jan Frodeno and Brad Khalefeldt in 2009 to Emma Moffat, Nicola Spirig and Lisa Norden‘s 2010 showdown in Budapest or the Swede’s 2009 Madrid finale with Andrea Hewitt, these are the moments that will forever live in triathlon folklore.
This weekend on TriathlonLIVE.tv, two of the all-time great finishes will be re-shown in full with live engagement with the athletes involved.
On Saturday at 7pm CEST, Javier Gomez and Jonathan Brownlee will take us through their epic encounter at the 2013 Grand Final in London, along with input the Brownlee brothers’ then training partner Richard Varga.
On Sunday at midday CEST, Great Britain’s Vicky Holland and Australia’s Ashleigh Gentle will be on hand to give their insights on the drama of the Gold Coast 2018 Grand Final, where Holland and Katie Zaferes were vying for the world title and the home-crowd favourite helped create the kind of noise down the blue carpet that will be forever etched in the memories of anyone who was there.
