Team Brazil score Pan American Mixed Relay gold in Vina del Mar

It always looked like a strong team on paper, but then so did many others lining up for the 2023 Pan American Mixed Relay title last Saturday. What Team Brazil definitely did have that no other foursome could boast was the freshly minted men’s champion and one of the best swimmers on the circuit, Miguel Hidalgo, taking up the first leg.
Banishing the painful memories of their Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification effort in Portugal, he set Brazil on course to take the gold, Hidalgo joined by teammates Djenyfer Arnold, Manoel Messias and Vittoria Lopes on top of the podium, Team USA with silver, Team Canada taking bronze.

Ashleigh Gentle and Hayden Wilde win Noosa Triathlon titles in Australia

Australia’s Ashleigh Gentle claimed a record 10th title at a star-studded 40th anniversary edition of the Noosa Triathlon in Queensland last weekend, New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde winning the men’s race in a new course-record time.

Gentle lived up to her title as the Queen of the Noosa Triathlon winning in a time of 1:55:13 ahead of fellow Aussies Sophie Malowiecki and 21-year-old Richelle Hill in third. Tokyo 2020 Olympic medallist and #2 in the world this year, Wilde may have got lost on the bike-run transition but still had the engine to run away from Australia’s Matthew Hauser and shatter the course record set by Australia’s Charlie Quin in 2022 by more than a minute, Henri Schoeman (RSA) with bronze.
