Worldclass fields of multisport athletes are inbound to the north-west of Spain to contest across five ITU World Championships at the 2019 Pontevedra ITU Multisport World Championships. The schedule includes a duathlon, cross triathlon, aquathlon, aquabike and the showcase long distance triathlon, as well as an integrated mix of side events for all to celebrate.
Praza da Ferrería, known for its fine selection of cafes in town, is a hub of Pontevedra social life and will transform into the heart of the festival. It is here where athletes will start to march, with their teams, through the streets of Pontevedra, in the Parade of Nations on Friday, April 26.

Each event is made up of various categories including elite, U23, junior, paratriathlon, age-group as well as an open wave.

Where: Pontevedra, northwest city of Spain
Who: Nearly 4,000 athletes will represent 52 countries and regions in competition. Great Britain will have the largest team with 927 competing athletes set to start, while Spain, the host country has 752 athletes, Team USA has 751, Portugal 190 and Brazil has 161 participating athletes. Other nations proudly representing include Australia, Canada, Japan, France and Mexico, all well represented across the fields.

The next ten days are set to provide race fans with an absolute treat on TriathlonLIVE.tv, with more racing drama than ever to watch unfold live, in full and with exclusive athlete behind the scenes content and features.
From Saturday 27 April through to the 4 May, the 2019 Pontevedra Multisport World Championships will be streaming live on ITU’s new-look platform. The duathlon launches the festival with the elite races at 3.30pm local time (GMT+2), followed by the cross triathlon elites on 30 April and Aquathlon on 2 May. Pontevedra’s own Pablo Dapena, Spain’s hero Javier Gomez, 2018 champion Helle Frederiksen, from Denmark and Australia’s Sarah Crowley go for the long distance triathlon world titles at 8am (GMT+2) on 4 May, the same time and day as the aquabike races.
