Penticton is ready to crown the 2017 Multisport World Champions

After years and years of planning, the 2017 Penticton ITU Multisport World Championship Festival has finally arrived! Multisport athletes from all over the world have made their way to British Columbia, Canada to compete in a multi-day event that will test all levels of the sport to their top fitness! What an amazing week it is going to be.

When: August 18-27, 2017

What: The first ever of it’s kind, The 2017 Penticton ITU Multisport World Championship Festival is a 10-day event with five World Championship races:
• Duathlon (Run/Bike/Run) on Saturday 19th except Para Duathlon on Monday 21th
• Aquathlon (Swim/Run) on Friday 25th
• Cross Triathlon (Swim/ Mountain Bike/ Trail Run) on Wednesday 23th
• Long Course Triathlon (Swim/ Bike/ Run) on Sunday 27th
• Aquabike (Swim/ Bike) on Sunday 27th

Each race will consist of various categories such as Elite, U23, Junior, ParaTriathlon, Age Group and Open Wave.

Where: Penticton, BC, Canada

Who: 3,002 athletes are representing 41 countries across the globe to compete in the inaugural event. USA will have the largest participation with 1,016 competitors lining the starting fields, while CAN has 930 and Great Britain has 308. Other nations racing include: AUS, BRA, JPN and NZL.

Male: 1795 (59.8%), Women: 1207 (40.2%)

238 different athletes will compete in more than one event during the Festival, while one man, Karsten Olsen (DEN), is the singular person to be signed up to race in five different World Championship events.

Ages range from the youngest athlete competing at 15 years old, to the oldest out on the course at 89 years old!

Aquathlon – 1km Swim, 5km Run
Standard Duathlon – 10km Run, 40.5 Bike, 5km Run
Sprint Duathlon - 5km Run, 20km Bike, 2.5 Run
Aquabike – 3km Swim, 120km Bike
Cross Triathlon – 1.5km Swim, 31km Bike, 8km Run
Long Distance Triathlon – 3km Swim, 120km Bike, 30km Run
