Kathrin Muller and Jan Celustka made stunning debuts in International Cross triathlon competition with victory at Strobl in the ETU Cross triathlon European Championships.
In the Elite Women’s competition, reigning German Champion Muller, a four time Olympic Distance European Cup winner, dominated the race from start to finish to become European Champion in 1:43:18.
She held a comfortable lead the experienced Cross Triathlete Maud Golsteyn (NED), who finished in second place, her third European Cross Triathlon Championship podium.
The multi talented Helena Erbenova (CZE), the reigning ITU World Cross Triathlon Champion, completed the podium in third place.
In the Elite Men’s race, Celustka also led from the front to claim his first ever International career victory and become ETU European Cross Triathlon Champion. The Czech athlete was made to work hard for his victory, as he was pushed all the way by Alessio Picco (ITA) who finished second.
Celustka’s countryman, Jan Kubicek, completed the podium in third place.
In the U23 category, Marlene Gomez-Islinger (GER) and Jarrich Van Woersem (NED) are the new European Cross Triathlon U23 Champions.

Florian Klingler (AUT) delighted the home crowd with victory in the Junior Men competition with Lindy Van Anrooij (NED) taking the honours in the Junior Women’s race.
