Germany’s U23 Mixed Relay team stormed to victory at the ETU European U23 Championships in Holten.
Following on from the Elite team’s success at Alanya a fortnight ago, the U23 team of Hanna Philippin, Maximilian Schwetz, Lisa Siebruger and Justus Nieschlag continued the country’s dominance at relay racing with a convincing victory.
Russia also have a strong pedigree in relay performance and this was proved again as both of their teams finished in second and third respectively. Competition rules state that only the results of the first team will stand and so Maria Shorets, Viacheslav Pimenov, Arina Shulgina and Anton Kozlov picked up a silver medal.
The Spanish team of Anna Godoy Contreras, Ricardo Hernandez Marrero, Miriam Casillas and Vicente Hernandez were promoted above the second Russian team to claim 3rd place and the bronze medal.
