Avilés, a town in Asturias, Spain, will stage the 2021 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships Aviles on Saturday 6 – Sunday 7 November. Athletes will compete across a schedule that includes age-group, para triathlon, junior and elite racing, with athletes vying for spots on the 2021 Duathlon Championships podiums.
The Elite and U23 races will be streamed on TriathlonLIVE with the women starting at 115PM (CET, local time) on Saturday, 6 November and the men racing at 410PM on the same afternoon.
In the women’s field, Austria’s Sandrina Illes, 2019 Duathlon World Champion (Fyn, Denmark) and silver medallist in the 2019 Duathlon World Champion, headlines the 2021 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain. Marion Legrand, who claimed 4th place in the 2019 World Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra, will be among the elite women to watch as will her fellow French compatriot Garance Blaut who earned Duathlon World Championships bronze in 2019 in Spain.
Also among the experience field of elite women is Spain’s elite triathlete Xisca Tous, recently back from competing in the World Triathlon Cup races in South Korea.
Spain’s Marina Munoz Hernando is competing for the U23 women’s world title, after claiming the bronze medal in last weekend’s 2021 World Triathlon Cross Championships in El Anillo - Extremadura.

Angelo Vandecasteele of Belgium will lead the elite men’s field in Aviles, Spain, for the 2021 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships. Vandecasteele, an experienced duathlon specialist, claimed bronze in the 2019 World Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra.
Vandecasteele will be joined on the start line by Yohan Le Berre, who recently crossed the 2021 Europe Triathlon Duathlon Championships Targu Mures finish line and the gold medal in the 2019 FRA Sprint Duathlon National Championships.
Spain’s Emilio Martin, silver medallist in the 2019 World Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra and Belgian duathlon specialist Arnaud Dely will be among the men to watch in Aviles.
The U23 men’s field will be headlined by Belgian duathlon star Stef Corthouts who recently earned the gold medal in the 2021 Europe Triathlon Duathlon Championships Targu Mures with Thomas Cremers from the Netherlands, gold medallist in the 2019 NED Sprint Duathlon National Championships.
2021 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships will be a qualification event for the 2022 The World Games.
