Dr Sarah Springman visits ITU HQ

Whilst on a three week country wide lecture tour as a guest of the Canadian Geotechnical Society, the newly fledged Royal Academy of Engineering member, ITU Vice President and British Triathlon President Sarah Springman took the opportunity to meet with ITU colleagues across the breadth of Canada.

In her role as Board Liaison to ITU Constitution Committee, a stop in Montreal presented an opportunity to talk governance and future amendments to the ITU Constitution with Committee Chair Patrice Brunet. This was followed up with several conference calls with staff and committee members. Plans for amendments will go through several deliberations and consultations before a final version is presented to congress.

A stop in Toronto and a chance to talk with Grant Darby, Chair of the ITU Paratriathlon Committee, on the ongoing campaign for Paratriathlon to achieve Paralympic status. In Edmonton, Sarah attended a function for the Edmonton Triathlon Academy, the legacy body from the Edmonton World Cup with ITU World Cup Director Sheila O’ Kelly.

The final leg of the tour took Sarah through BC with a few days in Vancouver. Time was scheduled to work at ITU HQ following through on her work on the Constitution, Paratriathlon and Winter Triathlon.

Sarah returns back to the UK to continue preparation for BTF’s AGM and celebrate their achievements at the annual award dinner.
