The Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series has partnered with Specialized Bicycles for the remainder of the 2010 season. The partnership agreement, effective immediately, makes Specialized the official Bike Partner for the remaining four Series events in Hamburg, London, Kitzbϋhel (Austria) and the Series Grand Final in Budapest. Additionally, Specialized will be the main sponsor of the Budapest Grand Final. The next Series event will take place in Hamburg this weekend, 17-18 July.
“This agreement further underlines Specialized’s firm commitment to triathlon,” said Bobby Behan, Specialized Sports Marketing Manager for Triathlon. “Specialized has been a big supporter of triathlon since the sport began almost 40 years ago, and partnering with triathlon’s premier events series was the next step in our long-standing commitment to the sport.”
Paul Coleman, Managing Director of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series said: “Specialized is highly regarded within the sport of triathlon and is a prolific bike company, which ITU is proud to have a partnership with. The Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships Series is moving the sport to new levels of international TV and media coverage, and engaging new audiences across the globe. It is fantastic to see that Specialized is now part of this exciting new phase of the sport’s development and is also breaking new ground in the technical support that it helps deliver to Elite triathletes.’‘
Earlier this year Specialized announced the formation of a new, elite triathlon team, which includes four of the stars of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series: Javier Gomez (ESP), Simon Whitfield (CAN), Barbara Riveros Diaz (CHI) and Lisa Norden (SWE). The team is provided with top-notch treatment at major events, including bike technical support and a massage therapist.
The Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series was introduced in 2009, creating a series of world championship races rather than a single-day world championship. So far this season, the Series has made stops in Sydney, Seoul and Madrid.
