Just ahead of Cape Town’s debut on the World Triathlon Series calendar this year, the triathlon community learned that one of its most heralded athletes, Laurent Vidal, was life flighted to a hospital in France after his heart stopped working during a swim practice.
The emergency was certainly the low point of the year, with everyone praying and wishing him well in such a dire circumstance. So then when news emerged that Vidal had woken after several days in a coma, it was one of the best moments of the year.
But the best news of the day: our friend @laurentvidal is recovering. Thinking of you buddy.

And true to his jovial nature, Vidal had the best response…ever.
