Swim: 750m
A simple 2 minute walk from the Lang Park Transition area, the triTheGong Triathlon Swim legs are beach starts. The course will take you from the confines of Belmore Basin on a short distance out of the harbour walls before you turn around and head back in.
Ride: 20km
This 3 lap course is a fast and technical, out and back course. Coming out of T1 and onto Cliff Road you start with a small climb that presents you with picturesque views of the Northern Wollongong suburbs. Although they can be easily navigated, please be aware of the ‘speed humps’ along Cliff Road which are in place until you are presented with a set of very slick and fast corners at the Wollongong Novotel Hotel which finish with your righthand turn at the corner of Bourke & Corrimal Street’s, and present you with a short but fast descent. At the bottom you sweep left at the ‘round about’ onto Squires Way which sends you onto a fast, flat sprint to the turn around at Elliots Road.
On your return, you take the left at the ‘round about’ and then a quick right back onto Cliff Road. You will be presented with more ocean views as you take on the short climb in front of the Novotel and back across the top of Cliff Road to your second turn around at Belmore Basin.
Please take extreme caution as you approach the Belmore Basin turn around area, as you will be coming down the descent into the area at speed and the road changes to single file and becomes very tight. This is to allow for the course entry and exit chutes into the transition areas.
Run: 5km
The BROOKS Run course is a single lap out along the “Blue Mile” walk way, starting at Belmore Basin, taking you along the cliff line below Cliff Road, past North Wollongong Beach and around the perimeter of Stuart Park to the run turn-around, all whilst providing a scenic ocean view.
The return takes you back the same way, then past and across the top of transition, along Grand Pacific Drive to the final turn at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre and onto the final sprint into the Finish Chute
